From the Post Commander
Greetings Owatonna American Legion Family,
It was a busy summer with parades and downtown Thursdays in Owatonna. Post 77 sent 29 kids to Legionville Safety Camp and two Boys to Boys State this summer. The Post 77 American Legion Baseball Team finished Sub 1 Conference Champions for the second year in a row!!!
Our Past Gambling Manager Dakkota Moreno confessed to stealing $84876.43 from the Post Gambling account. The theft happened over the course of about nine months. I won’t go into details here but will answer any questions members may have. The Steele County Attorney’s Office will be prosecuting the case. I was very impressed with the Department of Public Safety Gambling Control Board Investigators and the job they did investigating the crime. Also thank you to the Owatonna Police Department for their assistance.

Chow time/Post/Auxiliary Meeting
Next post meetings are Tuesday, September 1st and October 6th at 6:45 PM, meal at 6 PM. No Legion Family meals have been scheduled. Bill Joenks is unable to continue cooking but we thank him for doing a great job last year. If you know of someone who would like to take over the cooking, let us know.

Hack News
The Hack was on display in the Four Seasons Building at the 2026 Steele County
Free Fair. Hope everyone was able to look it over!
Food at the Bar
Tenders, popcorn chicken, mozzarella sticks and shrimp are $8, Cheesy potato bites, onion rings and Taquitos $6, egg rolls $3, fries $2. We also have Heggies and Firehouse pizzas available.
Euchre
Euchre will be starting up Oct 24th. Contact Dave Nielsen for more details.
July 1 brought about the start of a new fiscal year. If you haven’t already, please pay your Post 77 Dues.
